I think it’s fitting that my 1st post is about this subject, procrastination. I began thinking of why people procrastinate in general. Is it laziness? Is it just a lack of ambition? Is it Perfectionism? I think it’s a combination of a lot of things but at it’s core. I believe that it’s fear!
“In psychology, procrastination refers to the act of replacing high-priority actions with tasks of lower priority, or doing something from which one derives enjoyment, and thus putting off important tasks to a later time.”
Fear can come from different places. It can be fear of failure. It can be fear of success. I know in my personal situation it’s partially “Perfectionism” but that’s based in fear as well. I have a fear of things not being “right”, whatever that means.
I’m in this never ending battle between “getting things done” and “making it right”. The truth is if you put your heart into it and give it an honest effort. It will always be “right”. Even if its not, which it will be, there are lessons that can be learned. You can learn from success and failure.
“If you wait for perfect conditions, you’ll never get anything done.”
Today is a new day. I plan to move forward and step into “my personal greatness”. I encourage you all to free yourself from the fear of being a failure and/or being a success. Don’t wait, do it TODAY. Get off Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Pintrest and do what you know should be doing. Right now..TODAY!
